Condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Peter Winterburn

June 25th, 2019

Peter WinterburnIt is with great sadness and shock that Bureau Veritas Minerals informs you of the passing of a great friend and colleague, Dr. Peter Winterburn on June 21, 2019 in Chile. Peter is well known and respected in the geosciences community globally for his work in the mining industry and as a professor at the Mineral Deposit Research Unit at the University of British Columbia (MDRU of UBC). While at MDRU, he mentored and advised several M.Sc. graduate students and was a key to the scientific advancement of exploration geochemistry.

Following his tenure as NSERC/AcmeLabs/Bureau Veritas Minerals Industrial Research Chair in Exploration Geochemistry at MDRU, Peter returned to industry to work for Vale, based in Santiago, Chile. Peter’s sharp wit, kindness, and contributions to mineral exploration will be deeply missed. Our condolences go out to Peter’s family and his many friends.

Bureau Veritas Minerals & Maxxam supported the Women in Mining in BC through their first Golf Tournament.

September 9th, 2018

Group pictureOn August, 30th, BVM & Maxxam organized their first Golf Tournament in support of the Women In Mining BC (WIMBC). The weather was perfect, each team did put forward their best swing and we heard a lot of laughs until dinner. The golfers enjoyed a fabulous day on the golf course. The proceeds from sponsorship, golf ball sales, the 50/50 draw and the silent auction raised over $4,400 for WIMBC. With these funds, WIMBC can continue to provide opportunities for their 1,000+ members to connect, such as their monthly lunch & learn sessions, and networking events through the year. THANK YOU again to our generous sponsors and prizes donations – They made a difference!
