Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012Freddy Fernandez appointed Country Manager for Mexico
We are pleased to announce that Freddy Fernandez has rejoined our Acme team as Country Manager – Mexico, effective February 16, 2012.
Freddy has over 25 years of industry experience working with CIMM, Inspectorate Americas and Acme. Previously worked for Acme from 1995 to 2008, Freddy was an important member of the Acme team first as Fire Assay Supervisor in Acme Chile, later as Branch Manager in Acme Brazil and finally as Branch Manager in Acme Mexico. Freddy rejoins the Acme team after taking on the positions of Geochemical Business Manager for Inspectorate Americas in Argentina/Brazil in 2009 and most recently, FA Lab Supervisor for CIMM TyS in Antofagasta, Chile.
Reporting directly to the Global Sample Preparation Manager, some of his new responsibilities will include overall management of existing and future Mexican prep facilities and overseeing the general expansion of business in Mexico.

BUREAU VERITAS completes the acquisition of AcmeLabs.
VANCOUVER, BC – Bureau Veritas has completed the acquisition of AcmeLabs today. Headquartered in Vancouver, AcmeLabs has state of the art mineral testing facilities and is one of the largest multi-element geochemistry laboratories in the world.
AcmeLabs is the number 3 player in upstream minerals testing in Canada. With this acquisition, Bureau Veritas now has a stronger business position in the burgeoning Canadianmarket, and continues to develop its global position in Metals & Minerals (M&M) with a full representation in key global mining hubs in Australia, Canada, South America and South Africa.
Founded in 1971 and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, AcmeLabs provides a full range of sample preparation, assaying and geo-analytical services. The company operates a total of 29 testing and sample preparation laboratories in 12 countries, mainly in North and South America and has 978 employees. Appointment of new Country Manager-Argentina
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Oscar Torres as Country Manager, Argentina, effective January 1st 2012. Oscar will be directly responsible for all of our operations in country. He brings a wealth of experience in the construction and management of sample preparation laboratories in places as diverse as Colombia, Haiti and the Dominican Republic for AcmeLabs. He will be based out of our laboratory in Mendoza. We wish Oscar every success in this exciting role.

AcmeLabs Increases North American Position
Alfred H Knight (AHK) and Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd (AcmeLabs) are pleased to announce the completion of the sale and purchase of assets in the AHK’s (geochem) analytical laboratory in Fairbanks, Alaska and the exploration sample preparation facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
These additions are a significant step in strengthening of AcmeLabs position in North America. The deal allows both companies to focus on their core competencies and, in the case of AcmeLabs, will further enhance coverage and service.
Ms. Terri-Lynn Ferguson, Quality Systems Manager will lead the AcmeLabs transition team with the support of Mr. Gary Short previously of AHK. Fire assay operations will continue uninterrupted in the Fairbanks facility under the technical support of Mr. David Kwok who will also help train staff on the AcmeLabs Enterprise Management System (AcmeEMS™). Mr. David Rootham (Regional Manager, Alaska and Yukon Territory) will assume regional responsibility for the Fairbanks facility and Mr. Steve Samotowka will provide support and staff training for the South Carolina facility. AcmeLabs is now the only laboratory in the Yukon/Alaska region to provide full local fire assay capabilities. The Fairbanks analytical laboratory is an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited facility providing dedicated geochemical services to the mining industry.

The Acme Team will be participating in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Can we count on your support?
